Default ATI Mobility Radeon x1400 Windows 7 Driver

    - Download the attached file. Extract to somewhere simple, for example: C:\DRIVERTEMP\
    - Run devmgmt.msc
    - Expand (+) Display Adapters
    - Right Click on Standard VGA Adapter
    - Click on Update Driver Software
    - Click on Browse my computer for driver software
    - Browse to where you extracted the RAR file ( ex: C:\DRIVERTEMP\ )
    - Ensure Include Subfolders is checked.
    - Click Next
    - Windows does its thing, Prompts for Restart. Do so.
    - Enjoy. I'm still deprecated to a 3.7 on the Windows Experience Index based on the Display Adapter score, but whaddya gonna do?

I included the 32-bit drivers in addition to the 64-bit drivers, in case x86 users are also experiencing the same problems.

Hi. I have been looking for this. But it does not work for me. I just installed Win 7 on my Inspiron 6400 Dell computer and have been looking around for drivers to my video card (radeon mobility x1400) and cannot find anything.

When i try these windows says "The best driver software for your device is already installed." (Standar VGA Graphics Adapter)
I have checked the "Search subfolders" and even searched in them individually just to be sure. :P

    AMD says:
The display driver supplied by the laptop manufacturer is customized for the built-in flat panel display, and the graphics features and functions specific to the laptop. It is strongly recommended to use the supplied drivers. If installing a different operating system other than the one included with the laptop, the laptop may not meet all the requirements, and supported drivers may not be available.
The laptop manufacturer is the exclusive provider of driver updates. If the required driver update is not available at the laptop manufacturers’ website, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer directly, to see if an updated driver will be made available in the future.
AMD cannot provide driver updates directly from AMD.com.
So I think the best option is to search the drivers for your specific notebook model on the support site of your laptop manufacturer.

    Good Afternoon,
I am running into some very frustrating driver issues with my wife's laptop(dell inspiron e1505). She is running an ati x1400, and we upgraded her to a win7 os. After this upgrade she is experiencing really really bad performance from her graphics card while running wow(i know, you can laught). I can only guess that dell has thrown their collective hands up with this card and stopped providing updates to it, because I have sifted through their website and haven't found anything win7 compatible. So if the link doesn't work anymore, is there any other location for those drivers or some other solution. It was a vista machine and not that old, so I can't believe that there isn't a solution out there somewhere. Any advice would greatly appreciated.

Official Windows 7 ATI Mobility Radeon x1400 driver can be installed (with an active internet connection) by going to

    Start->Control Panel->Device Manager->Display adapters->ATI Mobility Radeon x1400->Driver tab->Update Driver

Then, select "Search automatically for updated driver software," works perfectly on our Dell Inspiron 6400 which the same as E1505.
